Today we tackled things about Linux and its advantages over Windows. Linux was created by a Finnish student named Linus Torvalds. He was a student in the University of Helsinki, Finland. Linux is an open-source operating system meaning it is free for all users while Windows is not free.
Ubuntu is an operating system based on the Linux distribution which is also free of use. Ubuntu is named after a Southern African ethical principle which means "humanity towards others". It is easy to install in most computers and also easy to use.
Windows and Linux have differences. One is that Linux is for free while Windows has proprietorship. Their user interface also varies. Also the directory structure differ from one another. In Windows you can have as many structures of directory while in Linux you only have one root directory.
I think that Linux is much better in a way that it is free and also has easier applications but Windows is much more known to us. I hope that next time we would all be able to acknowledge Linux for its usability and helpfulness.

high hopes
Hi there. I'm Angela and I'm writing this blog for the sake of my CMSC2 class. :)
So last week was the first week of classes and so many things had already happened. Reality check: It came to my senses that summer is really over . It's a new beginning for this semester. Everything is back to zero. We will all start with a new slate. Last week I joined few events for the welcoming of freshmen. I participated in the Campus Tour, the College Orientation for BA Communication Arts students, and the Breakfast Fellowship. I felt nostalgic last week because I remembered what happened last year when I was still a freshman in this university. So as a sophomore, I have new expectations for this year.
I hope that this year will become another memorable year for me. I also expect myself to do good on my academics so I can get better grades. I have a new set of professors for my subjects and I wish to learn from them and get along with them too. I am excited to attend my classes and make new friends. Regarding my extra-curricular activities, I expect that I would be active in all of them. I have a socio-cultural org, an acad org, and I also attend Victory LB. For sure I would meet new friends and I hope to balance my time acads and extra-curricular activities. I also hope that all the events of my 2 orgs would be a success.
For the freshmen, I expect them to enjoy their stay here in UPLB just like what I did. I have three freshmen room mates and I would love to have bonding moments with them and I would share stories about my experiences last school year. I also wish that I would become closer with my blocmates and batchmates in my course. I do hope that we could have a strong bond and not just know each other by faces and course but also by the personality of each student.
All of these are my expectations for this semester. I would strive hard to at least do all of it. By the end of this semester, I would know what I managed to finish and would feel contented and happy. Every moment of this school year is crucial so I have to live with it at its full extent. :)
